Cycling: Volikakis returns to sprints

The Olympic Games did not go as expected by Christos Volikakis, who left in the last leg of the omnium.

Apparently disappointed, he had left all possibilities open on social media, but in the early morning he clarified the landscape with a post.

The top athlete of the track cycling, announced that after a period of rest that is necessary, he will return to the track and specifically to the speed races.

The posting of Volikakis
One Olympic cycle ends and another opens, I fell, I got up several times all these years I have been involved in this wonderful sport of cycling, I have learned to overcome every obstacle I find in front of me, this is what the championship has taught me.

Cycling has been my life since I was a small child, I know how to do it better than anything else, my cult, the track, of course I have done all kinds of it (speed track, endurance track) I have brought equally great distinctions and medals in both types , I managed to qualify and take part four times in the Olympic Games (3 times in the sprint competitions and once in the endurance competitions).

This time your love and all that I have been receiving in the last days have given me the strength to get up much faster than I thought, to know that I have read all your messages one by one and from each one I have won and I have learned many that some I had not even thought of.

A big thank you from the bottom of my heart, now my decision is that a new chapter starts for me new challenges, new goals, but returning after the rest I definitely need to my favorite races and speed track cycling that I spent most of the years of my athletic career.

I definitely need my time to find my footing and adapt to the new data, it will be a transitional year, but I believe that I will succeed once again and I will make you proud again.

Yours sincerely
